Popular social media video app wins challenge for a Ukrainian domain name.

Popular TikTok user Sarah Cooper lip-syncing Donald Trump. TikTok’s parent company won a domain dispute for a TikTok domain.

Bytedance Ltd., the parent company of the popular TikTok app, has won a cybersquatting dispute for the domain name tiktok.com.ua. .Ua is the country code domain name for Ukraine.

The company filed the dispute with World Intellectual Property Organization under the .UA Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy.

According to the filing, the registrant of the domain name used it to “pass off as the Complainant by copying the Complainant’s TIK TOK trademark and music note logo on the disputed domain name’s website, using the Complainant’s music note logo as a favicon, and purportedly offering TikTok Ads (advertisements). At the bottom of the disputed domain name’s website, the Respondent is also misrepresenting itself as ‘TikTok Ukraine.’”

The website does not resolve today.
